Study Guide for Literature; Western and Non Western

Before class: Read the Introduction in the book that appears before each text. Then read the text and look for the points mentioned in the Introduction.

During Class: Listen to the comments made by the teacher and the other students and write them down, either in the margins of the book or on a separate sheet. Write down your own questions.

After class and before tests: Reread the text. Look at the Study Questions provided on the website and answer them.

Review: For every text we do you should have four sources of information. Your notes should be ordered so that for each text you have about a half a page to a page of notes that include:

· Notes from the Introduction
· Notes on the text including a one or two sentence summary
· Notes and comments on the text from class, both your own and those of the teacher and classmates
· Brief answers to the Study Questions provided

Put these notes in the order in which we have studied the texts, learn them, and you should have no trouble at all with any of the tests.
